Types of Massage

Swedish Massage
This is what most people think of when they hear massage.  Long, broad strokes applied in a rhythmic way to all the muscles of the body, in combination with gently kneading, squeezing, and wringing, to provide an experience of utter relaxation and well-being.  This type of massage uses oils or lotions.

Deep Tissue Massage
Contrary to popular belief, deep tissue doesn't have to hurt!  Slow, gentle, deep compressions and strokes into the body help to release chronically contracted muscles and connective tissue, facilitate proper alignment of posture and movement patterns, and allow individual muscles to move freely of one another.  This type of massage is performed with little or no oil.

Neuromuscular Therapy (trigger point work)
This type of massage is great in relieving chronic pain.  A trigger point is a highly sensitive (painful) area of muscle tissue, which when pressure is applied a referral to another area of the body is present.  This type of massage requires communication between the client and massage therapist often during the session.  Restricted range of motion and pain levels can improve with sometimes just one session.

Sports Massage
This type of massage uses more invigorating massage strokes along with stretching and range of motion.  It can be used before an event for optimizing performance or after for speeding recovery.

Pregnancy Massage
Wonderfully relaxing for both mother and baby, this type of massage requires special positioning on the table depending which trimester the mother is in.  I’ve received special training to make sure this experience is completely safe for both of you.  Click here to read more.

Aroma Touch Technique
This technique uses 8 different Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils to help with stress management, boost the immune system, reduce inflamation, and return the body to homeostasis.  Read more.

Feel free to call me if you have any further questions about any of these modalities.  My sessions always contain a blend of two or more of these types of massage.  I’ll use whichever techniques I think will help us best accomplish our goals.
